The sculptor Robert Klippel, who died at the age of 81 this year, is acknowledged as Australia’s greatest sculptor. On exhibition will be a selection of the cast bronze sculptures which he considered amongst his best.
The painter Tony Tuckson, was well known as the inspirational Deputy Director of the Art Gallery of NSW and an influential protagonist of Aboriginal Art. He is now recognised as a major figure in 20th century Australian art. All works are on paper, including some of his early (1952-1956) figurative, and abstract paintings from the mid 1960’s. All the works by Tuckson are being exhibited for the first time.
The extraordinary Richard Larter forced the viscous alkyds and epoxies he mixed himself through hypodermic syringes in making his earlier paintings and pioneered the use of acrylic paint on small rollers in his later works. Examples of both techniques are included in this exhibition.
All works are available for sale.
Frank Watters, with Alex and Geoffrey Legge, Directors of Watters Gallery will be in Perth for the opening of the exhibition.
