Although many artists are recognised primarily as painters, other disciplines such as drawing, print making and sculpture invariably compliment and support their broader art practice. Fred Williams’ character sketches and engravings re-occur in his paintings, just as Guy Grey-Smith’s woodcuts and serigraphs of Karri Forests of the south west and rocky outcrops in the Pilbarra are familiar subjects in his paintings.
The viewer is invited to consider the different disciplines used by the artists included in this exhibition: Noel Counihan, Guy Grey-Smith, James Gleeson, Howard Taylor, Brian McKay, Fred Williams, Gunter
Christmann, Memnuna Vila-Bogdanich, John Firth-Smith and Marie Louise Hobbs.
