This exhibition is proud to be a part of the IOTA24 Festival, supported by Lotterywest.
Over the last four years Ikuntji Artists have been experimenting with textiles; reimagining the established Dreaming stories into fabric designs. As the designs are repeated down the length of a fabric, so too are the stories being repeated and strengthened. Emerging artists are telling their family stories with their own contemporary expressions of traditional motifs, bringing change and vibrancy to the language, while the story retains continuity. Tjukurrpa on Fabrics is a display of twenty-four textile pieces from twelve artists which highlight the traditional Dreamings and the ever evolving re-telling of each family’s story.
